The New York Restoration Project (NYRP) supports the SPARK Project via its 2014-2015 Project Grant. . .

DecadesOut, has been named a grant recipient for the 2014-2015 New York Restoration Project Grant for its SPARK Project.

With a special focus on communities of need, New York Restoration Project (NYRP) works in public parks, housing projects, vacant lots, schools, on sidewalks, the waterfront, and in community gardens. Their comprehensive approach to urban land management includes community engagement, capital construction, cultural programming, landscape maintenance, and environmental education. Together, these efforts impact the city on multiple scales, from one small block to all five boroughs.

DecadesOut is proud of obtaining this grant with the launch of its SPARK Project. The SPARK Project aims to facilitate and share creative communication between scientists and artists, and will support conversations between pairs of artists and scientists via a 3-part process: profiles, dialogue, and experimentation and creation.

The team at DecadesOut is working with bioartist Joana Ricou on a site-specific project in Bathgate Gardens in the Bronx, details to be announced shortly. DecadesOut wishes to thank We Grok It founder Christine Keefe, who was instrumental in making this partnership happen, and is a strong supporter of DecadesOut.

This program only enhances DecadesOut’s current season, a lineup that also includes events with an educational focus in coordination with NY local schools.

DecadesOut looks forward to a continued partnership with the NYRP.
